Post by: Redaktion on January 15, 2014, 07:57:29
Big promises. Toshiba's Encore WT8-A-102 is an exciting new Windows tablet with enough mobility and high-quality hardware to potentially threaten the current market leaders. But is it a success? We put the tablet through an extensive series of tests to find out.

1280x800 screen only, 11gb free only, sluggish graphics, windows... boring

CPU is compared with previous generation ARM CPU (S4), GPU is not compared because it comes last to all latest ARM GPUs (A7, 800, Tegra 4, etc)... Are you associated to Intel in any way?

@petermac: Yep, HFFS, according to the info on the Toshiba's website....

... which is, surprisingly preassure (I mean touch) sensitive. Toshiba uses AirBonding to cure this sensitivity so the touchscreen is placed over the HFFS screen about 0.3-1mm. The touchscreen glass yields under pressure from the fingers, and also if the touchscreen touch the LCD you can observe the discoloration up to the white colour (I've never seen such thing before). Even worse if you touch firmly with two or more fingers. Discoloration apears on the way between points. Every realase of the pressure also generates the strange sound" simmilar to "click", quite loud.
Any way, placing the touchscreen without support (in the air) puts the glass on a very large stresses and the risk of damage (imho).

Got mine, pleased to see it supports booting from a flash drive, so I put the recovery partition there and freed another up 6GB of space.
17GB is a bit more usable.
