We didn't test the Blade Pro up to now (ask Razer why they don't want to provide us with a review loaner ;) ).

The Samsung Ativ Book 8 seems to only come with the Radeon HD 8770M, which is a MUCH slower card, and makes it not really a gaming laptop :(

And Gigabytes latest releases, leave msi in the dust but no mention again... it seems to qualify as a gaming notebook you have to be , heavy, fat , have blinking lights and look like some thing from a japanese transformer movie.

I really like that you guys make these charts and ratings. But I have to say that I feel the price is really not taken enough into consideration.

After a lot of research and with my limited budget, I finally settled on the Lenovo y50-70 (non touch) for an incredible price and am very happy with the choice. I won't deny it has its imperfections, but feel it was the best bang for the buck and was well worth it. With laptops extremely limited upgradability,

I feel bang for buck really needs to be taken into consideration. Or at least state that price was not a major consideration.

Sorry, but your 88 score for the MSI GT72 is a joke, even your no 10 ranked schenker outperforms it and you admit it in your own review it has many failings, bad wifi, bad screen, bad keyboard and astonishingly bad price.. please sack the reviewer...

Title: How to Make a Gaming Laptop
Post by: Zara Eliza on November 20, 2015, 15:31:14
While laptop systems were originally intended primarily for business applications, such as word processing, they have since reached a point where they are capable of serving as desktop replacements. If you would like to have full control over the type of laptop you want for the purpose of playing computer games, you can build your own machine instead of buying a fully assembled unit from a retailer. To build your own gaming laptop you will need to start with a "bare bones" computer case, which is sometimes referred to as a "white book," and then buy the specific components you want to use. You should include Falcon NorthWest's two laptop lines:

GTX and LTX

A lot of top game developers rely on Falcon NW. They have been in business for over 20 years.

Sooo.... Why not the Xidax XM-11 SS or the Sager NP9870 S?
Both are SLI 980m OR GTX 980, and have the I7 6700K processors running at 4ghz. Really it seems like the real performers never get the attention.

I'll stick with my opinion that the Acer Aspire is the best gaming laptop at the moment, if you compare price and components.

I bought mine here ( fairly cheap)

Hi,

Gigabyte sees the Aero 15 more as a multimedia-device so we rated it as multimedia. It´s missing there too at the moment, because it`s not yet available in germany, where the top-10-lists are written.

Best regards,

your rating does not make any sense. Those are top-line notebooks. it does not matter what screen it has because if you spent $2-4k for it, you better buy a good monitor to see all of those pixels it produces. It does not matter what keyboard it has also, if you game, buy mechanical keyboard to dominate. Please give us ratings based on processor-graphics-memory combination add now fast they sort out all of those pixels. Top position computer with 1060 graphic card in this category, really? OLED monitor for Alienware - who cares. I think most dominating companies here are ASUS (I have one), MSI and I really like how Aourus jumps in this game.

GX701GX is the obvious omission here.

Thin and light. Second strongest Max-Q performance. Same display as the New Razer Blade Pro except -with- G-Sync. Optional Optimus for battery. Keyboard stays cool to the touch.

Styling isn't really my bag. But it's hard to fault as a pure gaming machine. Especially if you need something portable.

Your reviews in general are superior to those of others. Thank you for that.

But PLEASE ask the manufacturer for nit information. it is impossible to find. Many people like a bright screen, and they are hard to find. Razor and MSI for example give no info. You have to contact them. Razer was able to tell me the 17" high end was 300 nits. MSI could not find any info!

300 nits is way too dark for viewing in a bright room. Such information would be wonderful to have on hand.

Thank you.

Post by: Chris Proost on July 12, 2022, 19:45:56
Odd nitpick but here goes...

For what I assume from the dates of the comments is a living (ongoing and updated list) there's some bias here. The majority of the laptops presented are 3080ti models, with some others not far off. Now, while the 3080ti is indeed the best laptop GPU (bar some caveats) it seems a list mostly for power/wealthy users. There's no sense of best by tier/specs/average price which can be quite a difference seeing as gaming laptops tend more towards diminishing returns bang to buck than, say, desktops do.

Anyway, just my tuppence. Long term user of the site btw (which is often directly and indirectly the final word/decider for many of my laptop and other buys, and hasn't led me astray yet)
