Title: Review Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200 Notebook
Post by: Redaktion on October 14, 2013, 08:42:02
Affordable and conservative. While the waves of Ultrabooks and tablets wash over the market, Toshiba's got something just the opposite: a conventional, 17-inch desktop replacement. Just because you've got the latest parts doesn't mean you have to embrace the latest trends... right?

I recently purchased this computer and was wondering if you could tell me the adjustments that were made to calibrate the screen to its maximum potential.

WOW, AMAZING JOB! CONGRATULATIONS FOR SUCH IN DEEP REVIEW!

I bought this computer on august 2013 just as the haswell processors came out. I dodged all the "ultrabook" "ultrathin" stuff, and was looking for a big bright HD screen with powerful cpu. And I found this baby, and it has worked PERFECT since then. I use it mainly for school work. Any program that I have thrown at it, the machine responds well... I even use mercalli video stabilization, and no problems it does the job. The difference between how fast the video gets processed when compared to xenon eight core processors which I have access too, is just time. But no crashings, no freezes...I play starcraft 2, and it does well the job.

By the way, I have not upgraded any components, yet. But I will.

THANKS FOR THE REVIEW! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

I really still love my laptop a year later still excellent quality. Especially  if you are into pictures and video editing.
However I am interested  in how to keep the temperature  down and what in lament terms causes this....
Great review and I really have enjoyed my Toshiba Satellite  P75-A7200.  Great use for many things!
I would be interested in feedback on how to keep the temperature cooler while in use.
Thamks, ames

I was looking to purchase a new laptop/2-in-1 and was checking on the specs of my present laptop (Toshiba P75-A7200) and found your review.

Great write-up.

After 5 years of running, 4 hours of use daily, no issues at all.  It was a great laptop.

Since Toshiba has exited the laptop business, I'm going to be hard-pressed to find a similar device with the features that I've grown accustomed to.

Is someone still using Toshiba p75-a7200? My screen is broken and I need to access BIOS to change default monitor to external, so I can use external monitor as my main monitor. For now my external monitor turns on when Windows is loaded, so I can't see anything before including BIOS. Would someone be that kind and record for me a short video while entering BIOS (I use version 1.6 - the newest one) and find that option to set default monitor to external at computer startup? Post it here or send me a private message. I will be veeery grateful.

Regards,

Tap F2 after power on, press right 3 times, then down 10 times, hit enter, then down 4 times, then enter, then down twice - this will select "external display device" in the bios. then it is just F10 to save and exit and enter one last time for "yes" and you should be golden.

PS. install a SSD in drive 1 and any size mine is 1TB in slot 2 killer performance especially if you through in 32GB of ram. Have a good one!!

Thank you very much. I've found a workaround - Toshiba System Settings app, which allows to make some changes to BIOS from Windows environment.

Great review....I have just inherited one of these units (has a bad motherboard), have ordered another M/B but was wondering where the mSATA drive location would be on this board. I have the bottom removed to expose the M/B and do not see where the type of drive might plugin. Wonder if it might be underneath (actual the top) the M/B ??  Any ideas....my next step is to remove the board completely and have a look. Would certainly like to use the mSATA drive as primary.

I believe this info about mSATA is incorrect as I do not have mSATA in my p75-a7200. Eventually Toshiba puts different motherboards and we are unlucky ones.

Fantastic review. I bought a P75 about 5 years ago. The screen has developed a large brown spot in the center you don't really notice unless you are on a white screen. Ebay has new replacements for about $90 and youtube shows you how too do it. The review is spot on, big and heavy but packed with features the video is spectacular. I needed it for school to run Autocad and Revit and it had plenty of power. I love this laptop.

I need to amend my previous comment. I've found mSATA on the motherboard, but without connector. It's next to SD card reader. I'm about to order mSATA connector and solder it to mobtherboard. Fingers crossed it would give me 3rd storage drive, which I can use for my TrueNAS server (mSATA can act as boot drive for TrueNAS and other 2 regular SATA will host 2 x 2TB HHDs). Please let me know if someone else done it successfully in the past.
