Title: Review Acer Aspire E1-531 Notebook
Post by: Redaktion on November 27, 2012, 04:32:53
An extra helping. Acer's Aspire E1-531 promises a big 15.6 inch screen for little money. With an Intel Pentium processor and 6 GB of working memory, the elegant giant wants to prove that it can be more than just a workplace or a portable home cinema. It might just be a real bargain considering a purchase price of merely EUR 300.

I have an E1-531 but is slower than this presented on top.
It has Celeron processor with 1.8 GHz, 4GB RAM, and the video card only has
128 MB memory.

I have an E1-531 g with geForce 710M, and it's work briliant. I'm using it for 3D graphics, programming and gaming and music production and it's fantastic. A lot of new games work perfect on mid/high details, system runs very fast, i haven't any problems with wi-fi, bluetooth.

But case looks like crap. Cheap, soft, glossy plastic everywere. I'm afraid when I must take it to rucksack. 2 days later after unpacking it, i had a lot of scratches. And that glossy screen...

Battery perfomance is not perfect, but not bad. While surfing the internet, battery is out after aproximatelly 3 hours, on gaming 1 hour.

Overlay: Budget laptop with very good perfomance. If it'll be stolen, I will buy it again.

The absolute worst PC purchase I have made.  Since day one the ACER shut off with no warning.  No luck talking to manufacturer.  It's just a paperweight now.

This laptop is quite good for normal office use. The Celeron 1.8GHz version is not necessarily slower, because it features a newer Ivy Bridge architecture. I have that one myself. The new one also features a usb 3.0 slot.

Great article. I've had mine for nearly a year, no issue's. Great everyday laptop. I need to upgrade RAM as my circumstances have changed and need to load a hungry music software. Can the RAM be replaced and upgraded? Thanks.

The laptop is a bit more than 2 year old. Had to replace the original hard drive and 2 week later, it killed the Western digital black......Have to rma it. If it fails for no reason. I'll never buy acer again since they build junk! Never had any problems like that with Asus laptops.

I think its a really nice laptop. I have one myself but my ram is only 2gb which makes it hard for me to play games. I was going to buy more memory but I don't know how many memory slots there are

Hi, Nice review.
However, should you need a translator who can put German, French or Italian into real, comprehensible English, I would be more than happy to do it for you. No charge

Have this laptop but with only 4GB DDR3 Memory. Its functions are fantastic for school and I'm quite happy with it. Only downside is that it is heavy so sometimes difficult to haul around in a bag.

I bought a Acer Aspire E1-531 Notebook a year ago in 1916.  This version here is only a duo core.  Mine has a quad core.  Why the change?

I've had mine for 7.5 years now - still in daily use. I replaced the fan recently, as well as the DC port, (not expensive - found on Ebay) and I added 4Gb RAM for a total of 8Gb.  It came with Windows 8, but I switched it up to Windows 10 when that came out.  Be careful removing the back, the screws under the hinges should not be removed, and don't need to be to access the inside.
It's mostly used for a backup now, but I still boot it up every day, I suggest changing thew desktop photo every year or so to make it feel new... :-)
