AMD has officially announced the Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card with 20 GB VRAM, 84 CUs, 80 MB of Infinity cache and 300 W TGP. One can buy it for US$899 on December 13.

Terrible naming by amd.
Though not bad as two 4080s, this one's purposefully named as 7900xt to make sure that comparisons are made to 6900xt and not 6800xt.
They're playing mind games. Now you might be tricked into believing that you get the 7900xt for less than the introductory price of 6900xt.
But 6900xt was actually faster than 3080 and actually competed with 3090 @1440p.
I don't think the same can be said for this generation.
And I don't think even 7900xtx can compete with 4090.
So deceptive naming by amd.

They're just trying to make you feel better.
But it is better than NVIDIA..

You are nitpicking the name and the 7900 XTX can obviously compete with the 4090 outside of raytracing. The 4090 and 7900 XTX raster increases are similar. The gap between the 4080 16 GB and 4090 is also much larger than the 7900 XT and 7900 XTX.
