Title: ViewSonic announces its latest X-series projectors with third-gen LED tech, 1080p resolution and enhanced brightness
Post by: Redaktion on June 17, 2022, 18:52:13
ViewSonic has launched the X1 and X2 as its latest home cinema-ready projectors. They are both FHD; however, the OEM asserts that they will be as bright and clear as possible while sparing the environment thanks to newer, cleaner LEDs. They also both have in-built Harmon Kardon-branded speakers, although the X2 stands out with a shorter throw.

If it does not provide a minimum contrast ratio of On/Off 2000:1 in cinema mode, the brightness is not less than 150 lux (per 1 sq.m) and the noise is not more than 29dB in this mode, with accurate color reproduction (including after hardware calibration). He is unlikely to be of interest to anyone today.

Yes, and today a 1080p projector is antique trash. Everyone needs a cheap projector with native 4k panel (at least 2880x1620, as an intermediate solution) for typical 100-120" in home.

And most importantly with a convenient installation in difficult conditions for living room. Not everyone has a personal room for setup. The lens shift horizontally and vertically must be at least 50% for comfort installation under ceiling.

By itself, LED technology is not a panacea for today. Why does a person need 30000 hours? For what? For a movie, 3000h is enough for 10 years. Verified personally with lamp home-cinema projector. An ordinary lamp is more than enough for today with a resource of 3000-5000 hours in quiet mode. For use as a large monitor? But then again, the resolution is shameful for that aim. For games? Input lag and panel response is monstrous. Moreover, because of the typical DLP flicker, it is not suitable as a monitor and for long games in terms of eye safety (nervous system).

Impressive gains in LED brightness. Unfortunately these projectors are priced high enough to be forced to compete against excellent projectors. Shed the Harmon Kardon license, price these projectors at $500 and watch them sell like hotcakes.

Harmon Kardon is outstanding but a built in speaker is very limited to what it can do. Better to  route audio to external speakers for stationary projectors and save the internal speakers for battery operated portable projectors.

No 3D makes this an easy pass.
