Title: Sony introduces two new Walkman with Hi-Res Audio, DSD, LDAC and MQA support, plus up to 40 hours of battery life

Sony has unveiled two new Walkmans aimed at audiophiles who wanted a dedicated MP3 player. Not only do the NW-WM1ZM2 and NW-WM1AM2 support modern streaming services and formats, but the more expensive model also relies on copper and gold for the best possible sound.

Sounds like an interesting product until I read they're supporting MQA.  A pity, but I'll pass on this one.  I can't stand how much MQA formatting has ruined the quality of Tidal streaming.

I'm not familiar with these newfangled audio terms, but isn't mqa just a format?
is this any different from saying "I'm not buying this new video player because it supports mkv files"?
genuine question, I wanna get into hidef audio.

MQA is just a format, but has been working its way into streaming services desperate for money and taking over as the only format offered in many cases (see Tidal).  Its like if MP3 suddenly replaced all of the high rez music in the world. Don't support anyone willing to back that snake oil company.
