Title: Qualcomm is working on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 already
Post by: Redaktion on December 19, 2021, 23:01:12
Qualcomm has just released the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor as its latest flagship processor with a re-worked name to boot. Now, a Weibo-based chip industry leaker asserts that the OEM is working on its successor already. This possibly accelerated timeline might be related to MediaTek's rising status in the same field.

Who the heck are these editors here man?
Obviously Qualcomm is already working on Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen 4. This is how the hardware industry works.

I came to post the same comment. All manufacturers are developing 3 or 4 generations out at any one time. Intel already has Gen 13 running, and Gen 14 well advanced. Apple M2, M3 are also well advanced.
Bit of a duh article.

As the article mentions several times it is all about a much earlier release than Qualcomms usual 1-year-rhytm for their flagship-SoCs because of the D9000-thread. May 2022 (as stated) versus usually December of a year would be a huge timeline acceleration.
