Title: Asus Vivobook 15 K513EQ OLED laptop review: The Lenovo IdeaPad alternative
Post by: Redaktion on November 13, 2021, 02:36:52
The VivoBook 15 K513 offers an amazing bang for the buck with its OLED display, 11th gen Intel CPU, and discrete Nvidia graphics all for under $950 USD. Though solid on paper, a few cut corners prevent it from reaching the same levels of a ZenBook.

"The extra-fast response times, relatively bright backlight, and extreme contrast ratio make our VivoBook better than expected for graphics editing."

OLED screens do not have backlights. Each pixel is individually illuminated.

I've just bought one of these and on white webpages and for typing, the flicker from the pulse width modulation is truly disturbing. It's getting sent straight back.

FWIW the OLED screen on movies/TV has significantly less dynamic range with the present setup than the Lenovo Duet 5, it doesn't pop/glow to the same degree. Switching on HDR on the Asus made things super grey, so that wasn't a fix.
