Title: Intel will produce Qualcomm SoCs on the upcoming 20A nodes
Post by: Redaktion on July 27, 2021, 19:58:34
Things are looking up for Intel, at least on the IFS side. Qualcomm is really impressed with the upcoming 20A (2 nm) tech that will go online in 2024, and is now planning to move part of its SoC production on Intel's cutting edge nodes that will integrate new features like GAAFET (RibbonFET) and PowerVIA.

It's either gonna be very aggressive, or very misleading, and I don't think Qualcomm actually has very high standards, since they'll do with subpar Samsung processes as well.

Intel has as much problems with yield as Samsung and are yet to master EUV. TSMC has a technology lead with their process around EUV. Intel hopes to take over that leadership in 3-5 years and will be first with high NA EUV so maybe they will, too hard to predict as TSMC is highly innovative and excellent at execution.
