Tom from Moore's Law Is Dead reveals the hybrid core configurations for the upcoming Alder Lake S1, S2, P1, P2, M and N lineups and also shares a few more details about the 2022 Raptor Lake generation, plus other successive generations. No pricing info, though.

We'll have to see how well Windows and Linux handle heterogeneous x86 in a few months, but it seems like a good strategy.

For gaming, 8 big cores is locked in until late in the decade because of the consoles. So Raptor Lake going to 8 big, 16 small sounds just fine. Even if AMD keeps the multi-threaded lead, it comes down to pricing.

The next big thing a few generations down the line will be monolithic 3D microarchitectures. X3D L3 cache and gigabytes of L4 cache on die are baby steps towards that.
