Leaked ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 specifications indicate quite a massive internal upgrade for Lenovo's multimedia flagship laptop. The specs indicate Intel Tiger Lake-H CPU and, for the first time, NVIDIA Ampere RTX 30 Super Laptop GPU options. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 is also slated to offer a slimmer chassis, 16:10 2.5K and 4K display options, 90 Whr battery, FHD webcam, and more.

Good to see OLED on 16:10 but I hope the touch function means they've fixed previous models fish net effect due to the touch layer not matching the OLED pixel arrangement.

Overall looking like an excellent computer.

Just realized I looked at the picture wrong. This has no OLED. But makes sense as I said the previous models has issues.

"1.5mm key travel"

So it's reduced from last gen?

I came to this article hoping to see GA102 in laptops, but the 16GB memory hints that 3080 super is still GA104.

Will the OLED panel still be glossy with a terrible anti-glare coating (like the awful coating on the x1 carbon's 4k screen option)?

Is there any hope for improvements to the premium screen options from the gen 3 - either matte OLED or a decent anti-glare coating like macbook pros or dell's xps line have?

lmao they were never decent, let's be real here. That layer of anti-reflectivity barely works.

MacBooks and iPads have a 1.5% reflectivity while most laptops with no coating have 7-9%. Windows laptops such as the XPS with somewhat decent Glossy Anti-Glare coating have around 4% reflectivity. 1.5% should be the standard, as it is same as most consumer grade glossy computer monitors at 24-32 inches.

That's a MASSIVE difference in perceived contrast ratio, making Apple devices' blacks almost x3 times as deeper than other devices under indoor lighting conditions.

Less Reflective => More Perceived Contrast => Better Image Quality and Sharpness

There is no substitute for this method. And a Matte Anti-Glare screen is not a good solution as panel technology gets better and resolution becomes higher.
These OEMs need to invest in better Glossy Anti-Glare Coating like Apple. Otherwise, there is no point in using OLED and mini-LED.
