Title: Apple decides to shrink next-gen Face ID chips by up to 50%

The Samsung has only used a small hole for years and has curved display edges, what's taking Apple so long? Their phones display looks ridiculous compared to the competition.

Face ID requires quite a bit more hardware than just a camera. And this hardware takes up space. They'd have to abandon the whole concept. Presumably, in time, they will be able to place it under a display and/ or in a bezel. But we are not there yet.
