Title: The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is tipped to shoot in up to 100 MP with Samsung's largest ISOCELL sensor
Post by: Redaktion on February 26, 2021, 22:29:05
Samsung's ISOCELL GN2 sensor will play a part in the upcoming Mi 11 Ultra, according to a report. The sensor, which has 1.4 μm wide pixels, will be one of four cameras in the Mi 11 Ultra, if past leaks are to be believed. The Mi 11 Ultra may be able to save images in up to 100 MP, too.

Thats absolutely lame - "While 50 MP may seem rather low-resolution for a premier Xiaomi smartphone"

Millions times it was explained that megapixels mean nothing in compute photography.  Only megapixel lamers produce such statements

Well, Xiaomi pretty much pioneered the 108mp-sensor-in-a-flagship market, so, yeah, "only" 50mp could be viewed as a rollback in this category. I suspect that's why they specifically included mention of the 100mp upscaling - so consumers see the "100" figure and feel they haven't been duped into accepting less. Otherwise it seems counter-intuitive to include upscaling capability when the trend and the viable technology has been going in the opposite direction - namely combining pixels/pixel binning.

Seems like OnePlus 9 Pro is now DOA. Am a big fan of One+ and waiting to upgrade my current phone. One+ 9 Pro better have a killer camera setup or I will be jumping ship.
