Title: Sony WF-1000XM4: New leak points to LDAC support for upcoming premium earbuds
Post by: Redaktion on February 22, 2021, 23:49:17
A new leak about the WF-1000XM4 has fleshed out some of the details about Sony's upcoming TWS earbuds. Apparently, the WF-1000XM4 will be Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified, which points to the adoption of Sony's high-resolution LDAC codec. The earbuds will support ANC too and up to 18 hours use between charges.

LDAC or AptX HD was not really needed for WF-1000XM3 - they sound average at best, better codec would not save them - not to mention Sony troubles with firmware to even combine EQ/AAC etc.
On the other hand this does not look like another "upgrade/downgrade" like WH-1000XM4 are, so let's hope they actually can do much better than WFs.

Can't wait, but on the other hand it's Sony, so I do not have my hopes high.
