NVIDIA and OEMs will no longer specify whether a given Ampere Mobile GPU is a Max-Q or a Max-P variant. Ampere Mobile will be offered in a range of TGPs, and it will be the OEMs' discretion to decide which third generation Max-Q specs and TGG value should be used. This can confuse end users as a higher Watt RTX 3060 Mobile can potentially outperform a lower Watt RTX 3080 Mobile for a given workload.

So, no clarity from NVIDIA just like Intel did with its variable Turbo Boost sustainability depending on cooling + type of RAM used for Tiger Lake
Good job we have YouTube and amd now also adding better end gpus than their last models.
Nvidia isn't that clever. It just means we don't rush out to buy. We actually just sit on our money seeing reviews first.

Love how the Asus G14/G15 (2021) are advertised as: RTX 3060, 3060 Max-Q and 3060 Max-P at the sae time on various websites.

What we really need are the following:
- Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme with AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS + RTX 3060 Max-Q
- Dell XPs 9700 (17") with AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS + RTX 3060 Max-Q
- Asus G14/G15 with webcams
- Lenovo ThinkPad T14 with AMD Ryzen 7 5800HS + iGPU
That's a big mistake.
Just look at what happened with the first Ryzen Mobile chips: OEMs were supposed to provide drivers for their specific TDP configurations, but neglected to do so and deliberately let AMD catch the heat for it.
Not to mention you know damn well they won't advertise what power configuration they're using. They'll shove a GPU in with no headroom and market it the same as the quality builds.

Interesting, but I doubt it will happen. I guess Asus could add webcams, I haven't looked. And there probably will be an AMD version of T14, but it will be U series and probably a PRO. That's Lenovo for you.

Perhaps they're smart enough to have one driver that can read the configuration out instead of relying on OEMs to install the correct driver.
