According to PassMark's CPU usage data, which measures the percentage of CPUs running the company's benchmarks by brand, AMD briefly overtook Intel in total Desktop CPU usage share. However, this victory was short-lived. Intel also continues to dominate in the laptop and server arenas, according to PassMark's data.

With AMD set to dominate for at least another two quarters without much in the way of competition, their share will continue to rise. Add to that the ability to upgrade the CPU without upgrading the whole platform and it's going to be a while before Intel can even think of catching back up.
