Google has confirmed that it has acquired Neverware, a company that specializes in turning old laptops and desktop computers into Chromebook-like devices. The acquisition follows a previous investment by Google into the company's operations and offers Google a strategic opportunity in both enterprise and education.

I wonder what will happen to its public portable version of the Chromium OS, available from Neverware that I can install onto a USB
Another typical anti-competitive move by Google, and while being sued for exactly that. They buy the competition so they can put their OS and search engine on the products that will be used by the upcoming generation. And of course the FTC allowed the acquisition to go through, likely without even giving it a second glance (or probably even a first one).
