Title: BOE launches a ground-breaking 55-inch UHD AMQLED display
Post by: Redaktion on November 22, 2020, 18:29:43
BOE has announced that it has made active-matrix quantum dot light-emitting diode (or AMQLED) technology 4K and TV-sized for the first time. This emerging display standard is based on quantum dots, as is QLED, but does not require a backlight. This may mean it offers more consistent colors and brightness compared to those high-end panel types.

You really should write about cocking, knitting or something

Why so toxic? Honestly, the amount of marketing in the naming of display technologies nowadays is a nightmare. For instance, what Samsung is calling QLED has nothing to do with a real quantum dot-based LED. So lots of bull* around all those names and all.

And I am pretty sure, that this exact 55-inch BOE AMQLED display is not a true fully QLED driven display. Simply because blue QLEDs are still far from being utilized in commercial products. The current best blue QLED as far as I know is around 15k hours stable at 100 cd m−2. At higher (more realistic usage scenario) brightness, it's even much lower. So BOE had either used OLED for blue here or just phosphor emitter, but telling us that it's 100% QLED based from top to bottom. And, have you noticed, how scarce is the information on their revolutionary 55" AMQLED? Why? They must be proud of such display..
