If you just need a basic sturdy tablet with none of the bells and whistles, then the inexpensive Enduro T1 will be much thinner and lighter than expected for its rugged category.

IP54 is not rugged. Most manufacturers know this and have the decency to call their leaky devices "semi-rugged" instead. Dust and water can and will get into an IP54 device, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Code

The display is not nearly bright enough for outdoor use, especially combined with the glossy screen, where it would also have to outshine any reflections.

When you test outdoor devices, a saltspray test is also relevant, as some rugged devices are waterproof (unlike this one), but the fasteners will rust away rapidly when exposed to seawater.

Which makes one wonder what this device is aimed at. Perhaps some rough handling in an indoor workshop? Or for a clumsy office worker who keeps spilling their coffee on it. Not suitable for much else.
