Benchmark results for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 have started rolling in, and they show a notable improvement from Turing cards, but not at 1080p. The RTX 3080 even handily outperforms the RTX 2080 Ti, paving the way for the RTX 3090.

"Undoubtedly, the true benefits of the RTX 3080 and the Ampere architecture will reveal themselves over the next few weeks."

That, or people will see some benchmarks that weren't part of an Nvidia promo video compiled by a 3rd party site and will begin to realise that Ampere only performs as well as Nvidia claim under some very specific scenarios.

But I guess we'll see, soon enough - once the pre-orders have already been placed...
