According to HP QuickSpec there is also 1000 nits 72% NTSC FHD display panel option available for 455 g7 (with Sure View). Do you plan to test also this display option ?
I am disappointed you did not test the laptop with a second memory module. iGPU performance is kneecapped with single channel RAM, and the conclusion of the GPU being useless for games is being based on this severely reduced state.
The laptop is a good improvement, but I'd have liked to see two different things from HP:
1) if no 2.5" HDD is present, an option for a larger battery. That huge space is totally wasted. Dell gives you this option, or used to, where you could spec a 60+WH battery if you didnt use the 2.5" bay. Maybe even a 72WH battery to allow for 3+ hours of use at full load would be awesome.
2) while slotted DDR4 is appreciated, these APUs also support LPDDR4X, which runs much faster (4266 MHz) and would supply better iGPU performance in dual channel mode then 3200 MHz SODIMM will manage, and pulls have the voltage, which would allow for even better battery life.
So this laptop, with a 72WH battery instead of a 2.5" drive and 45wh battery, 4266 MHz LPDDR4X, and maybe the more powerful 4800u would be ideal. As it is its a good improvement over the G6 and is currently available half price on HPs website, you can get a 4700u model with 4GB RAM for $600 and add your own SSD and RAM for better performance and top out at maybe $900 or so.
You should fix the port list at the top of the review where all the specs are listed. It says there's 1 Thunderbolt where not far into the review there's a prominent complaint about no Thunderbolt.

Not disagreeing with most your points but it has been found that while LPDDR4X is faster speed memory that due to the bandwidth being much less it is usually significantly slower than its duel channel 3200 normal memory. You would need LPDDR4X to run in a quad configuration to begin to claw back some of the bandwidth loss.

This panel does not seem to be a good option. High advertised nits output is there just to compensate the loss due to the Sure View. The viewing angles are also worse due this privacy feature.
I can see some space in the laptop for the 2.5" drive. Is there's an option with a larger battery?
Is it possible to install 64 or 128 GB of RAM?
Is there an option to buy a model with 1 TB SSD?
