This standard has been developed to protect user eye health. They are applied to various screen types, those for PCs or monitors included, and may become a preferred spec in the new devices of the near future.

It's a fad.
It's a marketing scam. No evidence exist in regards to 'blue light' issues. While this is about a display its a play on glasses that reduce blue light.

They have still not replaced our old TV for which we had followed up like anything over emails.
