Title: Intel's embarrassing Comet Lake H ad pits the i9-10980HK against "3YO PC," not the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H
Post by: Redaktion on March 31, 2020, 15:12:04
In what appears to be public relations gaffe, Intel compared its upcoming i9-10980HK to an unnamed "3YO PC" to showcase supposed performance gains, completely ignoring AMD Ryzen 4000 Renoir parts like the Ryzen 7 4800H that match or even exceed it in certain workloads.

Intel has been doing this for a while. It's not exactly irrelevant - that's what a lot of people are upgrading from, after all - it just fails to address the competition whatsoever.

Intel is in a league of its own. AMD is not a threat.
Jokes aside, the new 10980HK will most probably beat 4800H and also hopefully 4900H.

Sure, very likely to match or beat it slightly, but at double the price and double tdp I wouldn't call it much of a victory (assumption based on performance comparison against the i9-9980HK which the 10980HK will be based upon)

Even if they weren't respectively 293 and 65 years dead you would first need to explain to them quite a lot - in Newton's case starting with what electricity is and moving on from there, and in Einstein's case what an integrated circuit is, how modern silicon litography works, and so on. Not the best people for that question, in other words.

Still, the best Intel can hope for with this is performance parity in cases with excellent cooling, as their power disadvantage at this point is massive. In anything thermally limited Renoir is bound to be much better.
