Title: Comeback: AMD reaches NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q levels of performance with the Radeon RX 5500M
Post by: Redaktion on November 01, 2019, 10:20:45
We were able to run numerous gaming benchmarks on the AMD Radeon RX 5500M as part of our exclusive hands-on with the MSI Alpha 15, an outline of which we shall provide in this review snippet. In short, the new Navi 14 chip comes closer to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q than the GTX 1650, while even reaching GTX 1660 Ti levels on occasion.

Same performance as the GTX 1660 Ti but at what power consumption?

5500M is a power hog. Terrible efficiency even with a huge 7nm process advantage.

Apples to apples total power:

1660 Ti Max-Q - 60W
5500M - 100W (85W claimed by AMD plus the ~15% regulator loss they like to forget)

And 1660 Ti is still faster.

Nothing to see here

Horrible add. Comparing two cards from total power range. Please compare at a same power with nvidia will see how it sucks
