Apple finally ships the MacBook Pro 15 with the new Intel processors. They feature 6 cores and should increase the multi-core performance significantly. At least in theory, because a comparison with the predecessor shows that the advantage is not always that big.

That is a big design flaw from Apple. I would rather have a thicker chassis.
Maybe Apple understands this time their "always thinner and lighter" habit is just useless.. All those keyboard and throttling issues happened because of trying to make the new model 200g lighter and 3mm thinner...
Intel is also absolute liar about tdp values.
Thanks for the in-depth review, as always.
Do you plan on doing the same for the 2.2Ghz i7 model? I'm curious of the differences in temperatures and throttling with this one.

That's not true at all. Intel provides power and thermal specs that are measured and accurate, it's up to the manufacturer to provide the cooling solution.
It gives the manufacturers a way to differentiate themselves, too; a better cooling solution will lead to a faster system using the same processor, especially using an unlocked i9.
The question is, why did Apple bother, since it's obvious that the cooling solution isn't even close to adequate?

For marketing purposes. Not all apple buyer are smart careful buyer, some of them just jumping the hype train. Those people are the reason why they dare to put the i9.
@Jeannot: We will try to review the entry-level MBP 15 as soon as possible, but it might take another 1-2 weeks.
Try to use the app Macs Fan Control to set the fans at full speed before doing the Cinebench tests. Also there is an app called Turbo Boost Switcher which disables turbo boost, with a base frequency of 2.6ghz it should perform amazing.
Will you be updating the review and benchmarks following the supplemental update released by Apple yesterday?
Also, I'd love to see the graphics performance of the 560x. There doesn't seem to be any benchmarks out yet.
Does it has 100% sRGB color gamut ?
If Apple only would understand that "Form Follows Function" none of the issues with cooling and battery draining, or even glossy displays and crap keyboard would really exists.
The information that you mentioned in your Blog is really helpful information about Apple MacBook Pro 15 2018 (2.6 GHz, 560X) Laptop.I like the way of explanation, it is so easy & understable.Keep sharing.
Really guys, 3299€????
Are you guys dead? Where are updates after patch, rpm of fans? Ideally, you'd compare different models and figure out how much noise and fan does 560x generate in comparison to 555x, etc. Practically impossible to find such info on the net. And with Apple's return policy and you basing your business on reviews, you could have done everything properly...
Guys? Sorry for being rude, but WTF happened to this review?
Are you going to finish it before 2019?

Would you mind addressing the Kernel Panic / Crackling speakers issues, in case you had any? Because seems like that significant amount of users are affected by these, so buyers should take it into account when buying one. So if you encountered these, please be kind enough and mention them, so that users will not be misinformed.
Yeah, Will you be guys finishing this review and posting an update? This review is in complete.
"All in all, the MacBook Pro is still a very quiet laptop."
At 47 dB?
Blade 15, GS65 - equally sized screen and battery, lower clocked CPU, lower resolution screen - battery life 6h
MacBook Pro 15 - doubles at 11.5h
S.O.R.C.E.R.Y
Cool laptop, but GPU performance should be in the cons. For 3300e, getting the same GPU performance as the entry-level of the dell xps 15 can be a big deal breaker for all professionnals like videomakers, graphic designers, 3d conceptors...
Macrumors says
"Tucked away in a press release, Apple revealed it is bringing AMD Radeon Pro Vega graphics to MacBook Pro for the first time. The company says these new graphic options deliver up to 60 percent faster graphics performance for the most demanding video editing, 3D design and rendering workloads.
The new configurations are set to be custom-order only from Apple's online and retail stores, with availability at Apple Authorized Resellers also expected, from Wednesday, November 14. Apple has yet to release pricing details."
So a high end Vega chip in a Macbook pro might help it to game?
If Acer (!) can build a 1.0 kg 15" Swift 5, why does this thing have to weigh 1.8 kg?
Yeah, yeah, it has a videocard. I know. But shouldn't 1.4 kg be attainable by Apple by now?
Up your game Apple. Focus on what matters more than thinner bezels. Weight, Noise, Price.
Dude, did you experience any BridgeOS errors during the test?
Mind commenting on that a bit?
Many potential buyers would like to know whether the issue is that sever.
No BridgeOS issues so far and still using it.
You mention it is not good enough for professional user, but as far as i know most professional user using Macbook pro.
By the way this thing is very expensive, for that price i could get two of MSI laptop PS63 (ram:16GB, 512GB nvme and better GPU: gtx 1650).
(-) Touchbar
I use this exact model at work. My company has > 1000 of this model as its standard issue for engineering. EVERYBODY I talk to HATES the touchbar, beware! Everyone! We carry this laptop around and struggle to type in meetings because any tiny brush of the touchbar will get picked up and produce some strange characters. I turned off all special touchbar features because i kept hitting mute or screen brightness - now i just get rotten control characters half the time I am typing (I type 120wpm+) on my MacBook! (I type < 60 wpm on a touchbar keyboard)
Apple is SO LUCKY that most people use this device as a desktop, NOT as a laptop. The keyboard is so horrible and the touchbar is EVEN MORE HORRIBLE! The only reason apple sells even 1 laptop is most people are typing on an external keyboard and mouse (NOT a magic mouse - I threw mine away as you cannot turn off sideways scroll in Chrome) at work!
