50% more cores for 13 % more performance. We were eager to find out how the new Apple MacBook Pro 15 handles the new hexa-core processors. Not very well after our initial tests, because the performance advantage under sustained workloads is small compared to the previous model, despite the additional CPU cores.

Thank you! This is very helpful.
Are you planning on testing the XPS 15 i9 as well? It would be interesting to see how it compares to these i7s.
What about the GPUs? What can we expect from x version of 560/555?
Throttling is a problem with XPS 15 too, especially with the poor cooling for power delivery components and the abyssal paste job.
But what dell does is the sustain the load much better than mac, specially with their adaptive load policy which prevents spikes. And well.......they make better "pro" laptops than apple anyway.
