Title: Dell XPS 13 9370 (i7-8550U, 4K UHD) Laptop Review
Post by: Redaktion on April 23, 2018, 09:37:44
Fractionally..better? Compared to its i5-equipped sibling, the i7 version of the attractive XPS 13 9370 - this time with twice the hard drive space and double the amount of RAM - doesn't really offer significantly improved performance. Why that might be the case is one of the question we'll try to answer in our review.

Please, please, please could you introduce a WiFi range test. Testing connectivity with the computer right next to the router is not a real world scenario, where the router might be at the far side if an office or behind the bar of a coffee shop. It's really really really important to know how well the laptop will pick up a WiFi signal in comparison to other laptops in the real world.

XPS = coil whine.
It's true for many years and it's sad. Shame on dell.

I just returned a maxed out XPS 13 (9370) I bought (with the 45W charger). The reason was HDMI to USBC for an external monitor worked in my unit, but killed bluetooth, thus rendering the computer of little use for productivity with external bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Bluetooth also was killed when plugin in an external monitor with VGA to USBC with an adaptor. When I disconnected the monitor, bluetooth came back, sometimes needing a reboot. I had latest drivers and bios. Dell tech support said it was a known issue, which leads me to believe it was not a defect of my particular unit, but I cannot say for sure. Dell also told me a dock would fix the problem, but that solution did not work for me (I work at three different locations with external monitors). Are you aware of this bluetooth issue? I have not been able to find a reference to it anywhere in any review.

Question, did you guys update the display FW before doing the tests?

I am considering selling a brand new 9370 I got from dell as a replacement just because of the ghosting, I saw the display fw over at dell but some users reported black screen issues after updating with it.

The update files have very suggestive names like "lag workaround"

You can find the update at dell's site APP_PanelFW_DBC_W10_A00_Setup-XR19K_ZPE.exe

Don't bother asking Notebookcheck any questions. They're absolutely horrendous with user interaction. A shame, given the generally otherwise excellent reviews.
