Successful all-rounder. An affordable Ultrabook with Full HD IPS display, GeForce 940MX, and Core i5-7200U - Lenovo intends this interesting package mainly for students. You can find out in our detailed review, whether the IdeaPad 520s can convince us.

I thought about buying this computer but I've been waiting for your review, so thank you!
I'm still not sure about upgrading to the Nvidia GPU. I'm a student, so I'm not sure how much it'll affect the battery life. Is it worth it for about 50 dollars?
If you intend to do very light gaming and photo or video editing then the Nvidia GPU will be worthwhile. Otherwise, it's not necessary for simple word processing and video streaming tasks. Battery life will be longer without the discrete GPU. Hope that helps!
is this laptop support m.2 nvme ssd or just msata ssd ?
@nazrey:
The Ideapad 520s 14" has an M.2-2280 form factor slot that supports both SATA-3 and PCIe-NVMe interface, so not mSATA.
Too bad it Lenovo chose to release it only in select markets, excluding the North America.
I wonder if this laptop has an ability to upgrade its RAM? I mean not only the larger capacity (8>16) but single/dual channel mode as well. Can some owner confirm that the RAM may operate in dual-channel mode when the additional stick is installed?
@DitkgtS,
this laptop only has one RAM module. So it is upgradeable to 16 GB, but the RAM will always run in Single-Channel mode.
What form-factor does the main drive have in the IdeaPad 520s? Is it a common 2.5-inch small form factor? Asking to determine whether I can swap my current SSD with the HDD included with the laptop. Thanks!
