Bold hardware mix. How much power does the Radeon HD 7970M still have when the high-end graphics is combined with a weak processor? MSI installs AMD's low-cost A10-4600M quad-core in its GX60 to achieve the lowest price possible. Our benchmarks reveal the sobering results.

Gaming at 1080p they seem dam close to the i7. Who in the right mind is going to game at 720 with this laptop??
I bought one without the super-raid (twin mSATA). $1200 and I got it customized with 16GB RAM (DDR3-1600), 500GB HDD, ICDiamond thermal paste, and a Killer 1202 wifi with bluetooth. All that remains is to pick up a 240GB Neutron GTX by Corsair.
Don't hate on it for not playing high frames at lower resolution, you make it seem like it doesn't come with a 1080p screen. Why would you set it to run lower. And Far Cry 3 runs at 40-60fps with dips into the high 30s with the latest catalyst drivers - I set it to match your test settings, and this is running off a platter drive.
Looks like the CPU is bottlenecking the GPU pretty badly. A 660M shouldn't beat a 7970M in any situation. Getting beat regularly by the 670MX regularly is odd enough.
If they were to improve the APU a bit more, playing hardcore games at Full HD with ultra settings, it should have beaten i7 Quad Cores as it performs more stable than i7 (only a significant drop of frame rates) even though the fps is still quite very low. Looking forward to see AMD pushing Bulldozer on gaming notebooks!
Its important to look at the whole picture here. 1080p is the most important resolution but if all notebooks are getting less than 30 fps then we need to look at the 720p benchmarks. Unfortunately while the gx60 is similar to the i7 in many games at 1080p the game is frankely unplayable and it shows no improvement in fps vs 720p in some games.
This laptop is about as stupid as it gets. There is absolutely no point in having an 7970m with this processor.
I run GW2, Tera and all games on Ultra. >:D
Make sure to set High Performance in catacyst to switch to discrete card correctly as AMD swap between cards and or down clock processor if not set properly in order to save power. :D
most FPS shown above are wrong, games are playable.
@guillaume
What did u do to play Tera with this? I get no more than 30fps and as low as 10fps in PvP ?
These numbers are...weird to say the least, my Core 2 Duo E6700 (Dual Core, 2.66Ghz) is the slower CPU overall yet limited a HD7950 (Desktop) far less when I had to use it while my Z77 board was being RMAed...I was even able to play BF3 on maximum settings going between 20-30fps, yet I'm supposed to believe it runs MW about as well? Yeah right.
This laptop just need an overclocked A8-5550M ES processor and than it is a perfect gaming laptop.
I own msi gx60 for a year and a half now, dont buy it - the cpu so bad that you cannot play games on it and there by this module should not be called "gamming laptop" :(
If you are considering buying this laptop now, don't do it in any case!
Newest AMD drivers cannot be instaled (isue with integrated card going into Legacy) and some titles won't start with older, working drivers. Thus making this laptop obsolete for somebody wanting to enjoy titles like Battlefront, Shadow of War, Walking Dead New Frontier and maaany others.
