Rockstar Games has confirmed that retail download codes for Grand Theft Auto VI will be strictly region-locked on PlayStation 5, a restriction that Xbox Series X|S players will entirely avoid. This limitation requires PS5 owners to perfectly match their PlayStation Network account region to the country where the code was purchased.

Yet I redeemed a UK regional code on a Japanese region made Sony account, along with sending friends in the US, UK and Australia codes that originated from Japan, all their codes worked perfectly fine (all of the codes I send people in my discord are Japan regional Redemption codes majority of which are for ps5)
