Apple is seeking clearance from the Trump administration to purchase memory chips from CXMT, a Chinese chipmaker on the Pentagon's 1260H list of companies believed to be linked to the People's Liberation Army, according to the Financial Times. The approach comes two days after Apple raised prices across its Mac and iPad lines by between 17% and 25%, citing a global memory shortage driven by AI data centre demand. Apple currently sources memory from Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix.
