Title: Microsoft releases smaller Surface Pro with cheaper price and 90 Hz display
Post by: Redaktion on June 24, 2026, 03:15:02
Microsoft has released a new Surface Pro 2-in-1. Smaller than the new Surface Pro 12, the updated Surface Pro 12-inch features a 90 Hz display and a Snapdragon X Plus chipset, but only 8 GB of RAM.

How does this headline makes sense? The new 12 inch Pro is smaller than the other 12 inch Pro?!! If they are both 12 inches how is it smaller ? Does no one read before posting?  Yesterday the article on the new Tecmo Slim says it's lightweight in the headline but doesn't actually say what the weight is.

The surface pro 12 is 13".  The surface pro 12" is 12". Go figure.

Anyone who buys this is throwing their money away. What a despicable way sellers are deceiving people these days, and many fall for it. I'd rather wait until 2027 with the new Intel and AMD Zen 6 chips and possibly save up for the rest of the year, because I wouldn't recommend anyone buy anything in 2026.

Hmm, why bother for a 1" difference?  People that would want a smaller surface would want a 10" Go.

I wouldn't advise anyone to buy this kind of device. That's a given that it's not for me, but really, if I want to have peace of mind, I wouldn't trust any person I know with this. It's a recipe for disaster when it becomes unbearably slow or when anything fails in it.

They're aiming for the MacBook Neo, that's obvious. But at least the MacBook Neo looks like it's a trustworthy device. One that you know will keep on working. Hell, even Apple made a device with replaceable parts (even if they're Apple parts, expensive, etc. but you can advise someone to get it fixed in a repair shop).

Nah, really, the one thing I value most about a computer is trust. Trust that I'm not becoming the repair guy. And for the moment, Microsoft doesn't deliver trust.

RAM is a big deal today especially in Windows. Yes Microsoft still claims 4GB minimum which is even more laughable. But when you are talking a $500 laptop its has some merit given the RAM prices. But when you're talking a grand or more with no chance to upgrade possibly when RAM might get cheaper. Two things will happen. One, you probably will get frustrated with only 8Gb RAM and two the residual value will sink faster too. At least the MacBook NEO doesn't price itself to be more then what it is. The compromises are acceptable at its price point. The Surface is hard to defend.
