Die Trennung von Toys for Bob und Activision Blizzard hat dem Studio nach Jahren als Unterstützer großer Live-Service-Franchises unter wechselnden Konzernprioritäten seine kreative Unabhängigkeit zurückgegeben. Microsoft und Activision haben den Schritt unter der Bedingung unterstützt, dass Xbox das nächste Projekt des Studios veröffentlicht. Daraus ist Spyro: A Realm Beyond entstanden, ein neuer Multiplattform-Ableger, der Microsoft einen strategischen Erfolg verschafft, ohne die volle Kontrolle behalten zu müssen.
