Title: Leak: New Philips Hue module makes old light switches smart, without a battery
Post by: Redaktion on May 28, 2026, 19:40:07
The Philips Hue wall switch module makes it possible to control smart lights with a conventional switch without cutting the power supply to the lamps. Until now, these modules were wireless and relied on a battery, but this is apparently about to change.

Come on at lest try and hide this not just being a minor word change from the Phillips press release.

The bare minimum would have been to mention that this is catch up with competitors having offer such devices for years

Oh so it's just a Hue version of a Shelly Smart Relay?

Seems like using the Lutron Aurora dimmer switches that just attach to any regular wall switch or dimmer would be a much better option. No rewire needed. It pairs to the hue hub and it prevents anyone from turning off the physical switch. I have one for every wall switch in my house. Best thing they ever made for smart home tech.
