Gamers may have begun to shy away from the now more expensive PS5. U.S. April data highlights a 30% decline in PlayStation console sales compared to the previous year. Before the impending Switch 2 price increase, Nintendo's handheld extended its lead over the competition.

I think this has a lot more to do with other consoles coming online in the near future including project Helix and the steam machine. Consumers are waiting to see what's available before making a choice.

Project Helix isn't near future. Steam machine is but doubt it would make much of an impact or difference compared to console sales.

Playstation sells in the hundreds of millions, Valve sells in the ~5 million range.
