Title: Google expanding Gemini Intelligence AI features across Android
Post by: Redaktion on May 12, 2026, 22:48:51
A new era of accidental "butt dials" is about to land after Google's annoucement during The Android Show: I/O Edition 2026 that new and enhanced Gemini Intelligence AI features will be added to Android OS. The AI will have the ability to use apps and the web browser autonomously, including placing orders using personal information and sending messages with photos.

sure, shove it all down everybodys throat.
nightmare expanding.
good thing there are lots of asian brands now who do us the services not to use google's.
so next time you test phones, add the no googles services under the PROs, where it belongs!

I'm totally sure this services will totally not siphon our private messages, sensitive work communications nor habits, and for sure not be monetized to price gouge us on potential purchases.

Sigh.

Hope this gives a much needed boost to linux phone dev that's really slow.

I like how they present normal, everyday phone usage as a never-ending struggle ("...but they often leave us doing the heavy lifting; between bouncing across apps, digging through emails, and constantly managing our technology..." was a literal opener in the first 20 seconds of the vid 😂), so their Gemini is here to help everyone, lol. They are so out of touch, but they saw Microsoft's "agentic OS" idea and decided to go full force for their bit of controversy, I guess...

Luckily, she mentioned that this "the best of Gemini" is reserved for "the most advanced Android devices" (0:37 in the vid), so that's even bigger appeal to stick with midrangers.

This is both impressive and a little worrying at the same time. The convenience of having AI interact with apps for you sounds great in theory, especially for repetitive tasks, but giving it the ability to place orders or send messages automatically feels like something that needs very strong confirmation controls.

I can already imagine accidental prompts, misinterpreted voice commands, or AI acting on incomplete context. Hopefully Google gives users very granular permissions instead of enabling everything by default.
