I have the G6. Sadly, a substandard keyboard mars an otherwise excellent laptop.

Ye, the keyboard travel distance has been decreased (from 1.8mm to 1.5mm) and the keyboard is not a reason to go for a Thinkpad anymore. Even notebookcheck complains about the downgraded Thinkpad keyboard. The keyboard is ok, but it's not special anymore and that of an Apple Air is not worse anymore.

The issue with recent Thinkpads is the very low quality of the trackpad.
When tapped even lightly, they make a loud snap and feel unstable.
When clicked they can make a crunch sound.
Whoever is installing these at the factory isn't doing it right.
If the X13's design wasn't updated, this means the touch pad experience will remain poor.
