Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon is reportedly in talks with Samsung Foundry to manufacture the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. After years of TSMC exclusivity, improved yields and rising costs may push Qualcomm back to Samsung for its 2026-2027 flagship processors. This means phones like the Xiaomi 18, OnePlus 16, and Galaxy S27 could use chips made by Samsung.

This is good news because it means we're getting further away from a single company in the shadow of a rival great power supplying the world's fastest chips.
