If one would sum up all the mass between the galaxies -- like in this case, as it's hard to see -- the weight sums up to a huge amount and becomes the explanation for dark matter (just like all the villages and small cities in any nation sum up to a huge population; or small filesizes sum up to a huge data % overall).
