Samsung has announced it is winding up its Messages app. The announcement also informs users to switch to Google Messages which has a handful of upgrades.

How do you mean? The app is being discontinued.

They can't on Google Messages. It's not their app. The preinstalled version on Samsung is designed for OneUI but it's still Google Messages. It's still a blue icon if it helps.

And has beter RCS support.

I'd be surprised if this effects existing phones that no longer get updates. Samsung don't send updates to those that to change it.


They'll be meaning remove it from the Samsung store.

It's already not installed on Samsung phones.
