Nvidia debuted DLSS 5 at GTC 2026 to make existing games more realistic through AI. However, the reaction to the image output of DLSS 5 has been quite harsh. Fans have criticized DLSS 5 as it appears to push AI slop into mainstream gaming.

Changes too much the creator's intent and doesn't increase FPS. Maybe give an options menu of what the user wants to be changed.

From my observation it seems to have the opposite effect. The examples in the tech demo show previously sterile and dead looking games now looking alive and reinvigorated.

What if someone told you that it took something like 2x 5090s to achieve this. Would you consider the cost worth it in the end or devs were given a bit more time to achieve same intended look? Just pay them more by reducing executive bonuses.

From my understanding that's pretty much what has happened. Seems like another ploy by these big tech companies to sell us more expensive products that we didn't need or ask for. Oh, and layoff actual devs so they can funnel even more profits to executives.
