If you want to replace your Vodafone router with your own OpenWRT or x86-based router, the first step is enabling bridge mode. Only then does the Vodafone Station act as a pure modem, passing the internet connection directly to your new router without interference. In part 4 of my "Unbloated Network" series, I walk through how to enable bridge mode in the Vodafone account portal—and why the Homespot feature often prevents it.
