I read some articles about interviews and such she gave while doing Microsoft's CoreAI and it seems that she was just straight up bold faced lying. For the purpose of selling AI.

Point 2. She looks awfully young to be in this position. And her previous position. What, was she eight years old when Xbox first launched?
Point 3. Microsoft couldn't find one person within their organization that actually plays video games to head up this division? I mean something other than Candy Crush.
Conclusion. She's shagging Nadella.

This type of thing is not uncommon. There was a rumor at one point that the two sisters in the band Heart were actually lesbian lovers. Eventually it came out that their record label spread this rumor themselves to help sell product.
Microsoft wants people to think Asha is AI. Not to sell Xboxes, but to sell AI. To give the impression that AI is a more capable product than it really is.
