Title: Ayaneo finally reveals what powers its Xperia Play-inspired Pocket Play
Post by: Redaktion on January 30, 2026, 15:59:05
The Ayaneo Pocket Play was officially teased in early December 2025, but not much about this Xperia Play-like gaming phone was revealed. With a second round of teasers, the company revealed the display specs, and now the SoC has been disclosed.

So many ridiculous statements about the pads vs thumbsticks.
How thick you want your phone?
The pads are fine.
At least it's something with physical controls.
Physical controls are so much better than touchscreen controls, especially with emulators.
And please don't say Bluetooth controllers are better.
Do you walk around with a Bluetooth controller in your pocket?

It's like idiots are trying to look for something, so they point to dumb things as if those are viable options and worth discussing.

I have waited for so long now to be disappointed with a dimensity soc. Just why? Now it has to be cheap at least, but that wont be ayaneo... So we are getting an expensive device with a bad soc? Are there any ayaneo devices with mediatek soc beside this? Just why? 😔 Now they could easily put even gen 5 with the new turnip driver and make an unbeatable gaming device as they used to..
