Title: Intel Panther Lake Arc B390 performance and efficiency analysis: Intel's new iGPU trades blows with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050
Post by: Redaktion on January 27, 2026, 01:14:17
The new Panther Lake processors from Intel not only offer more CPU performance, but above all utilize a very fast integrated graphics card. The Arc B390 is around 70% faster than the previous iGPUs and can even keep up with the GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU.

Nice article. Do you have any data points for Strix Halo at lower power? Based on the video from Digital Foundry on the GPD Win 5 it scales well down to comparable power settings, likely with higher efficiency.

Although the Strix Halo GPUs are even faster (but not more efficient), they operate at higher power limits. There are only a handful of corresponding devices on the market, which then are also quite expensive.

Basless comment as you did not compare the two at the same power levels. The fact that 8060s @ 80W was more efficient than Panther Lake at its default power level tells me that 8060S compared at 20/28/35/45W would be very efficient too.

Intel has just delivered +70% iGPU perf and efficiency out of thin air in a genuine thin and light form factor. Meanwhile, AMD fanboys are upset; the latest rumors say we'll be stuck with RDNA 3.5 until 2029! I'd be mad too!

ThePhawx does. It does scale but only to a certain point. Halo does better at the higher power tiers while at the lower end panther lake does better.

Who uses or cares about performance at 80W? NUC users?

Currently going through the 5 stages of grief. Almost at the end now. I've just come to accept it.

From now on I will no longer comment on AMD gfx IP unless it's PlayStation or Exynos news. Not until after 2029, if their Radeon division hasn't been sold off to Sony by then.
