Title: Sony Faces an unfixable PS5 vulnerability as BootROM keys are dumped and shared publicly
Post by: Redaktion on January 02, 2026, 04:45:58
A leaked set of PlayStation 5 BootROM keys, published online at the end of 2025, has exposed core hardware-level security secrets that researchers say Sony cannot simply patch on existing consoles. While the breach does not enable an immediate jailbreak, experts warn it significantly lowers the bar for future exploits, potentially paving the way for permanent hacks, homebrew software, and widespread piracy risks.

So something most people cannot do easily, and will not bother to do, is an existential threat to Sony?  Okay if you say so.

Uhm... that's not how this game works, son. e.g. Weezy, he's  not tech savvy; at all, but... he has all titles on his console.

Point is, one does not need to be knowledgeable for the... wait for it... community stand as one to share the next coolest thing with each other... fast... almost in a fortnight!

For Sony, this is extremely concerning; security & especially financially; & it should be to one of the worst anti-consumer clowns in the industry.
