Title: 8-inch gaming handheld now also with AMD - MSI Claw A8 review
Post by: Redaktion on December 15, 2025, 19:24:11
In addition to the Claw 8 AI+ gaming handheld with an Intel processor, MSI is now also offering a variant with an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme. Apart from the processor, the Claw A8 also gets a new case. The RRP is again 999 euros, but the ergonomics are inferior.

>The AMD version offers no real added value

There's something seriously wrong with you if you don't think that 56% higher battery life (your own measurements) while gaming on a handheld is important... It's even better under Linux, something the Intel version can't compete with...

The comparison feels fair, especially the criticism around ergonomics and power profiles. On gaming handhelds, comfort and efficient tuning often impact real-world play more than small GPU differences, so losing RAM at the same price is a downside. For retro and emulation-focused users, balance matters even more, since BIOS compatibility and performance tuning play a big role in handheld gaming setups—something I've run into often while testing emulators alongside resources like ps2biosonline.com

For a handheld like this, battery life and short session performance matter a lot. Strategy games such as Clash of Clans work well on portable devices because you can manage upgrades, plan attacks, and play in quick bursts without needing long gaming sessions. I've been using guides from getclashofclans.com
to optimize gameplay on smaller screens, which makes handheld gaming more practical overall.
