Title: Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 8 drops AC adapter port, switches to smaller USB-C charging only
Post by: Redaktion on December 12, 2025, 06:50:59
The latest model ships with a 140 W USB-C AC adapter instead of the 170 W adapter that shipped with last year's model. Fortunately, performance has not been negatively affected.

Switching from 170W to 140W can be a wise move when we only look at the entry-level and mid-range RTX 2000 and Ultra 7 CPUs. However, I seriously doubt that a tiny USB-C port could handle the much more demanding RTX 4000 and 5000, as well as Ultra 9 CPUs.

Agreed. I looked at the pros and cons of the Gen 6,7,8 and decided to get the 7 with the i9 4070. I think the gen7 is the best of all 3 overall. I like having the option to use my AC adapters or USB-C for charging.
