I'm not sure we needed a whistleblower for the patently obvious progression and evolution of robots.
(Me with human weakness clicks the "I am not a robot" checkbox diligently as I post this.)
The culture is just rife with silicone valley types. Not saying specifically on this case but money these days is made by damaging first and patching it later. Penalties are too small a just a cost of business. If you want this to stop the liabilities need to be an existential threat including jail time for the executives.
But of course the news would rather report on some hobo Florida man stealing some bread.
